Lucy’s Lucky Tags & Dog Rescue Inc. is a volunteer-run organisation dedicated to rescuing and rehoming unwanted, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and puppies across the Mackay region.

Lucy was found wandering the Peak Downs Highway near the City Gates of Mackay. For an entire week, efforts were made to find her owners — but sadly, no one came forward. She was unclaimed and unwanted.
Lucy came into the care of Taylah, our founder. During her very first vet visit, Lucy was diagnosed with severe Heartworm Disease — a life-threatening condition that required expensive and intensive treatment.
The treatment costs couldn't be covered alone. That's when Lucy's Lucky Tags was created — a way to raise funds through Custom Pet ID Tags. The community rallied together, and thanks to their incredible support, Lucy received her life-saving treatment.
Today, Lucy is healthy, heartworm-free, and happily adopted into her forever home. She's the reason this rescue exists, and her story continues to inspire us every day.
Funds raised through our Custom Pet ID Tags now help save other dogs just like Lucy — giving them the second chance they deserve.
We are a passionate group of animal lovers who volunteer our time, homes, and hearts to give dogs a second chance at life. Every single person involved in our rescue is a volunteer — from our foster carers to our adoption coordinators.
Based in Mackay, Queensland, we rescue dogs from council pounds, take in unclaimed strays, and help families who can no longer keep their pets.
Unlike traditional shelters, all of our animals live in private foster homes. This means every dog receives individual attention, proper assessment, and the love they need to heal and thrive before finding their forever family.
